Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Last night I watched the fantastic Planes, Trains and Automobiles on Film Four. I'd already seen it several times but this is one of the few films that I never tire of watching. There's something about Steve Martin's character that I identify with. I'm not sure what it is though since I've never shared a bed with John Candy or set fire to a rental car.

Maybe it's the frustration of the inevitable transport delays whenever you are in a hurry to get anywhere, or maybe it's the strained relationship with a really annoying person who you just can't ever seem to get away from.

Whatever it is, the film serves as a poignant reminder of the value of true friendship which rises above the trivial annoyances and irritations of everyday life and stands firm in the face of adversity.

A truly great film - if you haven't already seen it get hold of a copy as soon as you can.
