good news for chocolate lovers!

Wispa Classic will go back on sale from 8th october at a price of 42p. The wispa bar was first issued back in the 1980’s and its now back by public demand!

Wispa’s production lines stopped 2003 and ever since fans have tried to bring it back on networking sites like myspace, bebo, facebook and of course

They say the only difference will be the price, back in 1983 it was 16p and in 2007 it will be 42p.

So the moral of the story is "voicing your opinion does sometimes work!" :-)

Did you hear me on the radio?

This morning I was invited to do another radio interview for BBC Three Counties Radio. They had been talking about Hai Karate perfume and talc on the show and were getting all misty-eyed so I was called in to help them reminisce about all things 80s.

We also talked about Weebles toys, the Evel Knievel Stunt Bike, the Secret Chocolate bar and Cadbury's Wispas amongst other things.

Did any of you hear me? I think it went out to Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire at about 9.40am. You can catch it again on the BBC player if you're really interested.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Last night I watched the fantastic Planes, Trains and Automobiles on Film Four. I'd already seen it several times but this is one of the few films that I never tire of watching. There's something about Steve Martin's character that I identify with. I'm not sure what it is though since I've never shared a bed with John Candy or set fire to a rental car.

Maybe it's the frustration of the inevitable transport delays whenever you are in a hurry to get anywhere, or maybe it's the strained relationship with a really annoying person who you just can't ever seem to get away from.

Whatever it is, the film serves as a poignant reminder of the value of true friendship which rises above the trivial annoyances and irritations of everyday life and stands firm in the face of adversity.

A truly great film - if you haven't already seen it get hold of a copy as soon as you can.

Another DYR Scoop! Cadbury's Laughs

We hopped aboard the DYR Time machine once again & jumped back to 1973 to bring you this forgotten gem from Cadburys. Time seems to have confined this one to History's litterbin, as I could find no mention of this bar anywhere on the Net. So here it is in all its Chocolatey glory..
It appears to be the standard generic 3p Milk Chocolate bar (see Monster Bar,Dr Who,etc) in a sleeve featuring a different 'prank' to play on the reverse. Anyone have any memories of this bar? Let us know. Click here for full 1973 advert
